Adkins Arboretum

This 400-acre native garden and preserve on Maryland’s Eastern Shore is 25 miles east of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, adjacent to Tuckahoe State Park. IThe only garden in the region that focuses solely on plants native to the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain, there’s more than 600 species of native shrubs, trees, wildflowers, grasses and ferns with four miles of paved paths. For the most part, paths are wheelchair accessible to wheelchairs, bikes, walkers — even cross country skiers. The Arboretum grounds and Visitor’s Center are open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily ,except major holidays. [ info ]
