Chase Garden

This 4 1/2 acre garden is a project of the Garden Conservancy, a national non-profit garden preservation organization. Located one hour south of Seattle, it sits on a bluff overlooking the Puyallup River Valley with a view of Mt Rainier.Designed by landscape architect, Rex Zumwalt, and developed and maintained by Emmott and Ione Chase since 1962, the garden is an example of the Northwest style of that era. It features woodland, with Douglas fir trees, native shrubs and trillium, erythronium, vanilla leaf, and other wildflowers; a meadow with Japanese maples, rhododendrons, and conifers; and a rock garden and groundcover plants. Open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from April through August, 10am to 3pm. Reservations not required.Photo by Nancy Tripp [ info ]
