“This small garden is half my world . . .” Designed by Anne Spencer (1882 – 1975), Harlem Renaissance poet, librarian, educator, civil rights activist and passionate gardener, her garden served as source of inspiration for her poetry. She also hosted many African-American political leaders and artists, including W.E.B. DuBois, Langston Hughes and Martin Luther King, Jr. in her garden.The garden is open every day.
