Hollis Garden

Hollis Gardens, recently voted one of the Best of Class Gardens by the Gulfcoast Research and Education Center, is a formal 1.2 acre botanical garden donated by the Hollis family. The garden features fountains, waterfalls and a lily pond, a butterfly garden, grotto, and displays thousands of flowering plants, ornamental shrubs, historic trees, herbs and vegetables. Home gardeners and aspiring landscapers come away with inspiration when they see what can be done in a small acreage, such as theme garden rooms organized by colors: red, while and yellow. (Perhaps there aren’t enough plants to complete an entire garden room in blue.)Located on historic Lake Mirror, accessible from the Lake Mirror Promenade or Orange Street. Closed Mondays. [ info ]
