Schedel Arboretum & Gardens

One of the highlights of this 17-acre garden is the Japanese Garden. Two waterfalls flow into pools which, in turn, stream into two separate lakes – the aquatic home for fish, amphibians, Baltimore orioles and finches, ducks, blue herons, white egrets, and a pair of Bald Eagles that nest nearby. There are 25 varieties of Japanese maple, 16 species of pine, including Bristlecone pine which is regarded as earth’s oldest species; Ben Franklin tree; Golden chain tree; Cucumber magnolia; Japanese silver bell; Umbrella magnolia; Tricolor beech; Cutleaf beech; Bamboo; Japanese katsura; nearly 50 varieties of lilacs, and more.
